Fit Moms For Life, by Dustin Maher Review & Giveaway – Enter to win a Copy of Fit Moms For Life

While trying to get healthier and lose weight I was excited to learn that there is a special book geared for women/moms. Its called  Fit Moms For Life, by Dustin Maher. This book is all about How to Have endless energy to outplay your kids.  I love that this book was written to help you lose weight and get healthy now, but also has the support, ideas, suggestions on how to make this a life style change.

Section 1 of the book is geared around ones “mindset” and “committing to be fit for life” with chapters like “Change your mind, Change your body” that has sections about different Fit Moms for Life transformations of real moms, with photos, tips and ideas for them. I love when books give you more then one perspective because it allows you to see what others are doing and makes it easier to find a way that fits you best. Other chapters in this section include “goal setting” and “getting real”. This book truly covers it all.

The next section (section 2) was the one that I really needed the most, “Nutrition: Eating to be fit for Life”. Each chapter in this section is vita in understanding what your body needs and how to make it all work. It breaks it all done for you to easily understand in Nutrition 101. It was nice to get the real information on Carbohydrates, fat, protein and what your body needs and how to go about achieving it.  The Rules to Eat By are GREAT.

  1. Don’t eat carbs alone.
  2. If you can’t pronounce the ingredients, don’t eat it.
  3. If your great-grandma didn’t eat it, don’t eat it.
  4. Eat breakfast.
  5. Eat four to six small meals per day.
  6. Keep your portion size under control.
  7. Drink three to four quarts of water each day.
  8. Don’t drink calories (juice, soda, alcohol).
  9. Avoid fake sugars.
  10. Eat enough protein.
  11. Don’t eat grains after 4 p.m.
  12. Be careful what you eat in the evening.
  13. Give yourself two to three cheat meals per week.
  14. Be prepared.
  15. Eat grass-fed meat and free-range poultry.
  16. Buy organic when possible and practical.

These rules are very helpful to get you to truly understand what your body needs and tips that will help you lose weight and keep it off. I love that the book gives you the list as I have done for you above but then goes on to explain the rule and why its important. You also get little clips from the women/moms that are featured in the book. This book really is a must have and must read because with sections like “The Dirty Dozen and the Clean 15″. One of my favorite things in any book, especially one that is there to help you become healthy and lose weight is when they give you easy to follow recipes that you can try at home and enjoy.

The next section in the book is, “Strength and Burst Training: Moving to be fit for life” this section consists of three chapters. “lifting in order to tone”, “The New rules of Cardio” and “Putting Together an Exercise Routine” Out of these sections I love that it has a sample workout that offers you the exercise with an explanation and photo to insure that you are getting what is needed to be done. In the past when I am trying to follow a book or magazine to accomplish an exercise without photos I always feel like I am doing it wrong, so I love that this book offers to photos and even tips!

The last and final section in this book is “Environment: Staying Fit for Life” This is a great section for you and your family because it covers topics like “Fit Mom, Fit Family”, “Creating your Fitness Community” and also touches on “Your transformation”. Overall I enjoyed this book and have been working on implementing the change to achieve the goals that I have set. I am excited to transform into a Fit Mom for life.
